One of my clients had an exciting revelation. He discovered that his crippling anxiety was tied to believing the lie: I am the provider, not God.

Can you see how destructive that is?

In a worldly sense, we are the providers. Our families need us to earn a living so we can eat food and buy clothes. However, even if we are wise and dependable, God is still the one who brings increase and gives us the capacity to create wealth. Scripture states:

But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

– Deuteronomy 8:18 NIV

As Christians, it’s important we shift our focus to Heaven’s economy. In this reality, provision has nothing to do with our own efforts. It has to do with the wisdom and talents God has placed inside us.
